Mariah Xu

Graduate Student

Mariah Xu, M.A. is currently a first-year clinical psychology doctoral student. She completed her undergraduate degree in fine art at Yale University and worked as a graphic designer before making a career shift into the mental health field. Mariah went on to complete her master’s degree in psychology at City University of New York Hunter College, and worked as a research project manager at Columbia University before coming to the University of Connecticut. Her primary research interests are in social, cognitive, and affective mechanisms in the intergenerational transmission of trauma and psychopathology. She is particularly interested in understanding and mitigating parenting risk.
